A Safe Haven for Our Special Families: Dar-us-Sakina

As a mom raising a child with unique needs, I know firsthand how isolating and exhausting it can sometimes feel. Between therapy sessions, school meetings, and everyday responsibilities, it’s easy to forget that we—the caregivers—need a community too.

That’s why finding Dar-us-Sakina was such a blessing.

Dar-us-Sakina (which means “House of Tranquility”) is a place where families like ours are understood without explanation. They offer inclusive programs, support groups, educational workshops, and even community awareness events — all with the goal of making sure every child, and every parent, feels seen and supported.

When I first walked in, I felt an instant sense of peace. The staff and volunteers greet you like family, and you don’t have to “explain” your child — they get it. Here, you’ll meet other parents who understand the highs, lows, and beautiful moments of our journey.

I especially want to recognize Naila, the heart behind Dar-us-Sakina. She runs this program with so much dedication and love that you can see her passion in every detail. Naila doesn’t just “organize” services—she truly listens to families, understands their struggles, and finds ways to lift some of the burdens from our shoulders. Her kindness and leadership have created a safe space where children can thrive, and parents can finally take a breath knowing their loved ones are in the best hands.

Dar-us-Sakina isn’t just a resource—it’s a gift to our community, and I’m so grateful for everything they do.
