Job application:
“Do you know anyone who works here?”
Me: “Yes! Barack Obama, Donald J. Trump, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Ivanka Trump… and I’m sure I can think of a few more.”
Recruiter: “Okay… but do any of them actually work here?”
Me: “Umm… no.”
Recruiter: “Then why did you say yes?”
Me: “Because you asked if I know anyone! I didn’t realize we needed to be coworkers.”
At this point, should I be building my LinkedIn network before I even submit the application?
Maybe I need to stop applying for jobs and start collecting connections first.
Just having some fun with the job-search process. No offense to recruiters or hiring managers!
